Before W1 (First Call):
- Finish Required Reading - Everyone should have read this before the first WAM: The 12 Week Year Field Guide
- Create a recurring Zoom call and send a calendar invite to everyone in the group. 30 minutes weekly for 13 occurrences (W13 is optional)
- Create new tab in Group Tracker for your group - This is for tracking your scores across the 12 weeks. You should have received an invite to the group tracker (bookmark it)
- Start a group chat on Slack including everyone in the group. This will be your main means of communication between WAMs
- Optional: Get a head start defining your goals using one of our templates (or use your own):
- 12WY Goals Template
- 12WY OKR Template
Suggested Agenda for W1 WAM:
- Each person introduces their goals (in whatever level of detail they can) (5 minutes each)
- Critique each other's goals and how they can be more SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound)
- If you don’t have clear goals yet, that’s fine. Use the time to speculate on potential goals and use the first week to clarify your long-term vision.
Suggested Agenda for W2 WAM:
- Each person gives an update on their goals (further refinement, pivot, or detailed plan ready to execute) (5 minutes each)
Tips for Effective WAMs
- Designate a timekeeper to make sure no one goes over 5 minutes. This ensure each person gets their fair share of time and also encourages participants to come prepared (you're supposed to reflect and plan your week BEFORE the WAM)
- Rotate hosts (the person who facilitates the meeting and calls on people) so you can share the load
